Dog Trainings

Easy Dog Trainings You Can Do At Home

Dog training is basically the application of behaviour analysis that applies the natural historical antecedents and resulting consequences to alter the dog's behaviour, either to aid in achieving specific behaviours or undertake specific tasks, or for it to efficiently participate efficiently in modern domestic life. It is a systematic way of shaping the behaviour of dogs and other animals so as to make them more useful and enjoyable members of the household. Dogs are man's best friends. However, like humans, they also need to be taught certain skills to become conducive to this close relationship with their owners.

Training dogs can be fun and rewarding if done properly. Teaching your dog new tricks and commands may even bring you some delight and excitement yourself! Teaching your dog is actually the easiest part of dog ownership.

In order to teach your dog new behaviours, the best place to start is by establishing a regular training schedule and sticking to it. Develop a bond with your dog by paying attention to his actions. Observe your dog closely and note down any unusual behaviour patterns. These could indicate an underlying problem or even just a preference for certain behaviours.

Once you have a firm grip on training your dog, you will need to provide positive reinforcement, otherwise he will not understand what is expected of him. Reinforcement is most effective when it is given immediately after the behaviour. For example, if you have decided to teach your dog to sit, then immediately award him his treat. Your dog will understand that when he responds in a positive manner, he gets a treat.

Positive reinforcement plays a vital role in dog training. You can either give your dog a reward immediately after he has performed a desirable action or wait until he has performed an action multiple times before rewarding him. Some people prefer to sprinkle their treats all over the floor when a dog performs a correct action, which encourages your dog to repeat these actions. Some people prefer to take things a step further and actually poison their dogs, so that they learn how to behave differently. These methods should be avoided at all costs as they can cause serious mental and emotional problems for your dog.

One of the most popular dog training is called 'conditioning'. Conditioning simply means unleashing a certain response whenever your dog performs a desirable action. For example, you could 'condition' your dog to sit each time he picks up a toy. This may seem like quite a time consuming exercise, but the results are invaluable. After a while, your dog will not only be sitting when you give him the toy, he may also be sitting quietly waiting for you to return!
